I have just finished reading the five books of the Meredith Gentry books by Laurell K. Hamilton. As I have mentioned before, I have also read all of the currently available Anita Blake books by the same author. Both series have their merits, but—even as much as I love vampire stories—I do believe the Gentry series is the better of the two to date.

Last night at about 6:30 p.m., my uncle finally took his last breath. He’d been diagnosed with end stage cancer of the lungs, liver, and lymph about two months ago. There was nothing the doctors could do that would give him more than a week or two longer while taking his quality of life away. Sonny remained able to get around with help until about two weeks ago. In the past few days, I have viewed a number of movies. My favorite so far has been the newest addition to the many Star Trek movies.

I had the pleasure of watching the movie Gamer last night. I went in expecting a movie about gaming, which it was to a small extent. However, the game was not the main focus of this movie.

We have all heard the Legend of Sleepy Hollow, I am sure. I have had the pleasure of watching the movie based upon the story. I grabbed it in my search to watch more of Tim Burton’s movies and I am glad I did.
Saturday, October 10
I spent a good bit of Friday afternoon and well into the night reading. I remembered once I’d finished the book why I usually try to space a book out over two days! My eyes were a bit tired, but the book was an excellent read.

Here is a sweet and poignant story of a dog found lost on the side of a highway. This lost dog was different from most strays and one shelter worker found out her story. (via Alyssa Milano on Twitter).

As I sit here in the student lounge, I have a certain someone on my mind. We’ve been able to talk more often, but that is going to end pretty shortly.

I never thought I would get up this morning to an announcement by those that award the Nobel Peace Prize that would get any reaction from me. Boy, was I wrong. I got up this morning, and while having breakfast, went through the tweets on my TweetDeck. I saw several posts saying the President of the United States had been awarded the prize. I almost didn’t believe it; then I read a few articles from trusted sources and had no choice but to believe. Read the rest of this entry »

House is a television program that airs on Fox Monday nights at 8 p.m. This show is now in its sixth season and for good reason.
